The Government of Cross River State has officially addressed the ongoing concern surrounding the abduction of two of its citizens, Vincent Ndifon and Emmanuel Odu, putting an end to speculation and rumors that had been circulating in recent weeks.
According to official reports, the two victims were abducted by unidentified assailants while traveling back to Calabar from Lagos after purchasing a vehicle. The incident has sparked widespread concern among the people of Cross River, with many demanding answers and action from the state government regarding the safety and welfare of the victims.
In a public statement delivered on behalf of the state government, Hon. Princess Magdalene, the Council Leader of the 8th Legislative Assembly of Akamkpa Local Government Area, provided critical updates on the situation. Speaking on the government’s behalf, she reassured citizens that the matter is being treated with utmost urgency.
Hon. Magdalene highlighted the coordinated efforts by Governor Bassey Otu, in collaboration with security agencies, commissioner of police, Akamkpa House of Assembly Members, commissioner for works, Chairman forestry commission, the Chairman of Council,commissioner for youth and local legislators from Akamkpa. She praised the governor’s dedication and commended members of the 8th Legislative Assembly, the unified councilors CRS, security forces, and concerned citizens who have worked tirelessly and remained actively involved in the matter since the abduction was reported.
“The governor has shown immense capacity and concern in handling this issue, and the commitment of our local lawmakers and security personnel cannot go unrecognized,” she stated. “Their sleepless nights and continued efforts show that we are united in bringing our brothers home.”
She further reassured the public that both Vincent Ndifon and Emmanuel Odu are confirmed to be alive and that all measures are being taken to ensure their safe and peaceful return. Hon. Magdalene also called on the public to remain hopeful and prayerful.
“At this point, what we need most is collective prayers and faith,” she urged. “Our brothers have been away from home for weeks now, and we are doing everything possible to bring them back safely.”
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to citizen safety and promised to provide continued updates as the situation develops.
