The Ministry of Commerce, led by Hon. Abigail Orok Duke, has successfully organized the Cross River Trade Fair, a landmark event bringing together diverse business owners across the state. This year’s trade fair, held at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, runs from November 15 to 26, 2024, and has become a vibrant hub for commerce, innovation, and community engagement.
The Cross River Trade Fair is a key component of Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s “Grow Cross River” initiative, aimed at boosting economic growth and promoting locally made products. The event has attracted a wide range of participants, including businesses, customers, and government officials, all showcasing the state’s entrepreneurial spirit.
The Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA) Director General, Mr. Great Ogban has actively participated in the fair, reaffirming its commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs.
MEDA’s DG, highlighted the trade fair’s role in advancing the “Made-in-Cross River” initiative, which focuses on fostering local production and creating market opportunities.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey encouraged residents to explore the diverse offerings of Cross River businesses and support local enterprises.
One of the participating vendors, Mrs. Julie Ikpeme, Creative Director of Bird-view Interior Design Ventures, praised the government for organizing the trade fair. She shared her gratitude for the opportunity to meet new customers and expand her business network.
