In a significant milestone for Cross River State, His Excellency, (Sen.) Bassey Edet Otu officially inaugurated the Cross River State Diaspora Commission CRIDCOM on Tuesday, 13th May 2025, in Calabar. This strategic move underscores the State Government’s commitment to harnessing the potential of its diaspora community to drive growth and development.
During the inauguration ceremony, Governor Otu emphasised the critical role CRIDCOM will play in managing the State’s global diaspora community, while projecting its image worldwide.
According to him, “You have an important job to do; manage our people in the diaspora and build the image of Cross River on a global scale,” he further charged the commission members: “The task is crucial, and I encourage you to give it your best shot. We expect you to start work immediately and build on the foundation we have laid.”
Duties of CRIDCOM
The Commission is tasked with serving as a vital link between the Cross River State Government and Cross Riverians in the diaspora. Its key objectives include fostering investment, cultural exchange, and strategic partnerships that will contribute significantly to the State’s development.

Responding to the Governor’s charge, CRIDCOM Chairman, Mr Otu Esu Okor expressed gratitude to the Governor for entrusting the Commission with this noble responsibility, “We are grateful to His Excellency for giving us this platform to contribute our quota to the growth of our beloved State.
“We are already in talks with diaspora partners to attract investments to Cross River; we will not fail.”
The other inaugurated members of CRIDCOM include Elizabeth Greene (Secretary), Mr Eyobong Ita, Mr Douglas Agba, Dr Maggie Inde, Mrs Emily Madueke, Mrs Anita Pascal, Mrs Barbara Eta, and Dr Ignatius Oli.
As the commission embarks on its critical mission, it is expected to make significant strides in promoting the state’s interests globally, attracting investments, and contributing to the overall development of Cross River State.
