The Special Assistant to the Governor on Gender Mainstreaming, Ms Utibe-Abasi Orok Bassey-Duke has strongly condemn the recent remark “With or without bra, your boobs are safe with us, Fly Cally Air”.
The above statement emanates from the trending Ibom air passenger crisis which occurred at the Mutala Muhammed airport, Lagos
Ms. Utibe Abasi states that the statement is not only inappropriate but also undermines the values we hold dear as a people.
She continued to say “No matter the applause you might get, it doesn’t make it right. We all have women in our lives mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, partners whose dignity must be respected and protected. Women’s bodies are not something to be made light of or turned into a joke.”
Cross River is not a state, nor do we have a culture, that objectifies women. We work tirelessly to protect women, uphold their dignity, and ensure their safety in every sphere of life.
Drawing more attention on the With or without bra, your boobs are safe with us, Utibe concluded by saying “Our State stands for respect, decency, and professionalism in all sectors, including aviation. We remain committed to promoting an environment on the ground and in the skies that upholds the rights, safety, and dignity of all, free from objectification or gender-based stereotypes.
