Here are the 21 Newly Inaugurated Committee Members to Enhance Nursing Standards in Public and Private Sectors in Cross River State

The Cross River State Government has inaugurated a 21-member committee aimed at improving nursing practice, regulation, and training across both public and private healthcare sectors.

The committee, operating under the State Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), is tasked with overseeing nursing registration processes, professional conduct, and adherence to standards within the state.

Speaking during the inauguration, the Commissioner for Health, Henry Egbe Ayuk, emphasized the indispensable role of nurses in healthcare delivery. He noted that nurses remain the backbone of patient care and acknowledged their contributions to medical practice, adding that experienced professionals continue to offer invaluable guidance to younger practitioners. He also highlighted ongoing government efforts to recruit more healthcare workers, including nurses, to strengthen the state’s health system.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Nursing, Esu Coco-Bassey, commended the composition of the committee, describing its members as seasoned professionals drawn from both public and private sectors. He also praised Governor Bassey Otu for his commitment to advancing nursing services and education, noting that his administration has consistently prioritized the welfare and professional growth of nurses.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Jonah Offor, stressed the importance of collaboration among healthcare professionals. According to him, effective teamwork between nurses and other medical personnel is vital to ensuring patient safety and achieving optimal health outcomes.

The Director of Nursing Services, Roseline Obojor Ogar, charged the committee to remain committed to its mandate of strengthening nursing standards and training in the state.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Margaret Armon expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver on its responsibilities, assuring that their combined expertise would yield meaningful results.
