House of Representatives Summons UNICAL VC Obi, over 27 months unpaid salaries

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Relations has summoned Prof. Florence Obi, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar to respond to a petition by some staff of the university over unpaid salaries.

The summon was contained in a letter signed by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Jerry Alagboso.

The petition that necessitated the summoning is by the 2019/2020 employees of University of Calabar, who are yet to be paid after 27 months of service.

The petition reads in part; “Whereas the above-named petition is now pending before this Committee and the particulars of the petition aforesaid are already within your knowledge, and whereas, the petition has been assigned to be heard by the Committee for determination.

“You are required to note sections 88 and 89 (C) of our constitution (as amended) and appear in person before this Committee on Wednesday 6th day of April 2022 at 2pm or so soon thereafter as the Committee shall direct: please bear in mind the NCDC protocols.”
