The Special Envoy and Ambassador to the West Africa International Human Rights Protection Service and Forum, Ambassador Omini, has strongly reacted to recent developments surrounding an Ibom Air passenger traveling from Uyo to Lagos.
Upon arrival in Uyo, Ambassador Omini proceeded directly to the Ibom Air office to make further inquiries and begin an independent investigation into the incident. The matter involves Comfort Emmanson, a passenger who was allegedly manhandled by Ibom Air staff and subsequently detained at Kirikiri Prison in Lagos.
Speaking to the press, Ambassador Omini condemned the treatment of the passenger, describing it as “a clear violation of human dignity and basic rights.” He vowed that justice will be served fully at all levels and emphasized that no individual should suffer such degrading treatment, regardless of the circumstances.
“This is not just about one person,” Omini stated. “It is about the protection of every Nigerian citizen and the enforcement of the laws that safeguard human rights. We will ensure that justice is not only spoken about but delivered.”
The Human Rights Envoy called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the matter, stressing the importance of holding all parties accountable and setting a precedent against the abuse of power.
Omini assured that the West Africa International Human Rights Protection Service and Forum will stand by Comfort Emmanson and provide all necessary legal and advocacy support until her rights are fully restored and those responsible are brought to justice.
The incident has sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians taking to social media to demand transparency from Ibom Air and immediate redress for the victim.
