MEDA Facilitates SMEDAN Training to Empower Women in Cross River State

 

The Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA) has partnered with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to facilitate a specialized training program aimed at empowering women in the state with skills in solar panel installation and maintenance. This strategic initiative is designed to enhance women’s livelihoods, create job opportunities, and boost economic growth in the state.

At the event, the State Commissioner for Commerce, Hon. Abigail Duke Orok, encouraged the women to maximize this opportunity, emphasizing that the training would not only enable them to become self-reliant but also create jobs within their communities. She noted that women’s participation in technical fields like solar energy could transform both individual lives and the broader community by providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions.

Mr. Great Ogban, Director-General of MEDA, underscored the relevance of the training to the state’s broader development goals. Ogban reiterated that the state is committed to supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which are crucial to economic stability and growth.
