PDP Stakeholders in Central Senatorial District Took Their Final Decision Regarding Zoning in Cross River State With over 85% Of Central Stakeholders Are In Support
Following widespread jubilations on the successes recorded at the just concluded ward congresses to elect ad-hoc delegates, leaders of thoughts, PDP stakeholders of the central Senatorial District have insisted that they remain resolute in their support for the back to South zoning of the governorship in Cross River State. According the the PDP caucus in the Central, this zoning will now be easy to achieve because a large percentage of the ad-hoc delegates, especially in the Central will vote for a Southern candidature.
At the campaign headquarters of Sen. Gershom Bassey, some of the leaders expressed their happiness at level of control they had on ad-hoc delegates which will help them support and actualise the back to South campaign in favour of the Distinguished Senator. They assured Sen. Gershom Bassey that over 80% of the Delegates were available to do their bidding which will translate to a resounding victory for him at the primaries.
They insisted that the leadership of the party in the central has not reneged on the decision taken at Ugep in Yakurr LGA on the 8th of January, 2022, where a communique was issued stating clearly that, \”The Central Senatorial District supports the principle of zoning and rotation of political responsibility in the state, and particularly supports the sustenance of the rotation of the governorship of Cross River State following the already established sequence amongst the various senatorial districts.\”

The communique further stated that, \”the governorship of Cross River State in 2023, following the established sequence of rotation, should be zoned to the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State; this position is taken in the unshaken confidence that there are members of the party from the Southern Senatorial District with capacity, competence and commitment to lead the state and restore the developmental strides the state was hitherto known for.\”
