Gelgi’s Rare Condition

Rumeysa Gelgi, the world’s tallest woman, lives with an extremely rare condition known as Weaver syndrome.

This syndrome causes accelerated growth and skeletal deformities.

Despite the challenges of her condition, Gelgi expressed how special it was to meet Jyoti Amge, the world’s shortest woman.

She shared;

“It was so amazing meeting Jyoti for the first time. It was difficult for us to make eye contact at times due to our height difference, but it was great.”

The two also discovered they had things in common, such as a love for make-up, self-care, and doing their nails.

Amge’s Dwarfism and Acting Career

Jyoti Amge, who stands at 62.8 cm, has a form of dwarfism known as achondroplasia.

She has appeared in various films and TV shows, including her memorable role as Ma Petite in the US hit TV series American Horror Story.

Reflecting on her first meeting with Gelgi, Amge said,

“I’m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me but I was so happy to look up today and see the world’s tallest woman.

I’m delighted that I’ve met Rumeysa; she is so good-natured, and I felt very comfortable talking to her.”

Both Gelgi and Amge aim to inspire others who have visible differences, encouraging them to embrace their uniqueness.

“We are aiming to inspire people with visible differences to find the courage to show themselves,” Gelgi said.

“I want to make people see that being different is okay.”

Their meeting not only celebrated their extraordinary records but also highlighted the importance of acceptance and confidence.
